Australia Summit Explores AI in Bridal Retail

The Essense of Australia Summit was held at the company’s U.S. headquarters on July 20-22 and July 27-29. This annual education summit brought together bridal retailers for a combination of business education, runway presentations, networking, and showroom appointments.

Martine Harris, Co-Owner and Chief Creative Officer of Essense of Australia, presented two sessions at the summit. One of the sessions, “AI” Do, explored the role of artificial intelligence in the bridal industry, particularly in how brides discover, research, and choose a wedding dress.

Harris was joined by Wallace Wilson, Vice President of Marketing Technology, in the “AI” Do session. They discussed how AI is changing the way brides shop for wedding dresses, including its impact on marketing, appointment quality, trend cycles, and store operations.

The conversation also covered what retailers can do to remain competitive in a market increasingly influenced by AI. Harris noted that brides are coming into appointments with more inspiration than ever, but that doesn’t always mean they feel more certain about their choices.

Harris said brides are coming into appointments with more inspiration than ever, but that doesn’t always mean they feel more certain. AI is changing how they discover dresses and prepare to shop, while retailers are being asked to understand them faster and guide them with more confidence.

Harris also led a session called When the Bride Can’t Decide, which explored the changing rules of bridal retail. The session looked at what is driving these changes, what they demand of retailers, and where new opportunities may lie.

Alongside the sessions, the summit included runway presentations featuring several of Essense of Australia’s brands, including Martina Liana, Martina Liana Luxe, Stella York, Essense of Australia, All Who Wander, and Oxford Street. Retailers were also able to participate in retail training, networking, and showroom appointments.

For retailers who were unable to attend the summit, Essense of Australia’s Virtual Showroom is available, featuring models across a range of sizes, shapes, and skin tones. This allows retailers to shop the newest collections.

Raise allows us to talk honestly about those shifts and what they mean for the future of bridal, said Harris.

The summit provided a unique opportunity for bridal retailers to come together and discuss the latest trends and challenges in the industry. With its focus on education, networking, and innovation, the summit helped to equip retailers with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in the bridal industry.
